World Cup and friends!

I have NEVER been a fan of soccer.  It's one of the few sports I have always refused to watch, but go figure, I married a soccer fan.  I didn't even know what the World Cup was before this month.  I get very into football and baseball, but soccer didn't even come close to my list of fun sports to watch.  Yet, I've found myself sucked into the world of soccer lately and not only have I been watching the U.S. games, I've been cheering quite loud during them.  *Sigh* What has my husband done to me?  I was the one who kept track of what days they were playing and what times.  Because of the time difference, the games are on at odd times here.  And still I've been up until 2am watching games.  When the U.S. beat Algeria, Maria and I decided it deserved a cake!  I've been itching to decorate a cake, so it worked out perfectly!

We invited Maria and her family over for the U.S. vs Ghana game thinking it was showing at 2230 our time.  They came over, we enjoyed some cake, visited a little, and turned the TV on to catch the game.  Much to our surprise, the U.S. game wasn't on.  Everyone pulled out their phones to check the times, and Corey got online and checked the schedule.  Our mistake...the game was actually showing at 0300 our time.  I'm not sure how we all got that wrong, but it happened.  We decided to play some Wii Fit instead, and still had a blast!  Corey and Maria were on a team since we're pretty sure they were separated at birth, and Tyler and I were on the other team because our spouses think we're too competitive.  We all took the body test, whined when we got the results, and then decided we should all play the hula hoop game to provide some laughs.  I'm pretty sure the hula hoop game was made to make everyone look foolish...can anyone do it and look good at the same time?  I didn't think so!

This weekend I also tried a new breakfast recipe I found.  Stuffed French toast!  It was so easy to make and delicious to eat!  We just mixed cream cheese and strawberry jam, stuff slices of French bread with the mixture, and went on to make French toast as normal.  I will definitely be making this more often!  If anyone else has any good recipes, send them my way!  I'm looking for new foods to make!

Delicious stuffed French toast

Mmmmmm

We've got a long weekend coming up for Independence Day, but we're not sure what our plans are yet.  We might invite friends over for dinner and games, we might head out to the beach to enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having, or we may just kick back and be bums together.  I'll let you all know what ends up happening!
