Surprise birthday party!

Not for me...for Maria!  Her birthday is coming up and our friend Ashley thought it would be fun to throw a surprise party for her.  We contacted a couple of her other friends that we had hung out with before and started planning.  We figured since she is always coming over here, we would have it at my place so she wouldn't suspect anything.  Each of us picked a food to bring, and then came the hard part- coming up with a reason for Maria to come over to my house without knowing anything.  Finally I decided I would invite her over to do crafty thing with Connor and send them to my mom, and to also skype with my mom and grandma.  I'm horrible...using my mom and grandma as a lie!  Luckily, Maria was happy to come over and even got all dressed up so she would look nice talking to them! 

The day of the party, I got nervous.  What if Maria decided she was too tired to come over?  Or what if for once, she was early, and we weren't ready?  The other girls made it at the time we had discussed and we decorated my dining room with purple streamers, balloons, and placed the food out.  We had loaded tater tots, buffalo chicken dip, jello, and cupcakes!  Yes, we're all about the junk food!

I had asked Maria to text me when she was on her way so I would know when to expect her.  When she walked in, it seemed like it took forever to get her to actually come in the house.  We had to wait for Connor to come in, then my dog ran out into the hallway, and then Maria yelled at my dog for liking Ashley more than her (not knowing Ashley was standing in my dining room).  When she finally stepped into view, we all yelled surprise and her reaction was typical for Maria.  Her exact words were "What the F*ck?!?"  Apparently she has never had a surprise party thrown for her, so she was very touched. 

We took some pictures, ate tons of food, and chit chatted for a while. The birthday girl left my apartment wearing half of the decorations, so I would call the afternoon a success!  I will leave you with some pictures!
