I've gotta be the worst blogger around! I guess you can just blame it on the fact that I'm adjusting to Okinawa quite well and have found ways to fill my schedule during the day!
My friend Laura came to Okinawa to visit last weekend during Golden Week. She teaches English to Japanese students on the mainland, so she only had a two hour flight to get here. I somehow found my way to the aiport on the first try, picked her up, and we started her vacation! She got here on Thursday and we spent most of that day driving around introducing her to Okinawa a little bit. Then Friday while Corey was at work, we got all of our shopping done! We went to Jusco, American Village, rode the ferris wheel (after a mini freakout by me), and then headed to Yogurtland where Corey met up with us.

Saturday the three of us woke up early (well early for Laura) and ventured out to the aquarium! It was awesome getting to walk through and see all the different fish and plants. They have a huge tank with hundreds of fish swimming around and I think we seriously stood there for 15 minutes pointing out new fish and saying "wow" to everything. We took a break for lunch and then headed out to see a dolphin show. We happened to miss one of the dolphin shows by like 5 minutes, so we just hung around the small dolphin tank for a few minutes. Just as we were about to walk away, some of the trainers started putting on a little show for those of us standing around! We were righ there at the edge of the tank...we even got splashed a few times! It was fantastic! Afterwards we went to the big dolphin show, and it was cool, but definitely not like standing right there with dolphins within reach.

The huge tank!
Look how close we were!
Sunday we all bummed around the apartment in the morning. Corey and I finally decided to be productive and do some cleaning and also decided to give Inu a bath. While we were doing that, Laura was taking over my kitchen baking a pie and some delicious chocolate chip cookies. We had to find a way to work off some of the cookies, so we spent most of that night playing Wii Fit Plus!

Monday Corey headed back to work and Laura and I headed down to the beach before she had to be at the airport. It was fun dipping our feet in the water and digging our toes into the sand, but it was sooo windy! We only stayed for a little bit and then headed out so she could catch her flight.
This past week included daily trips to the post office just hoping that my Old Navy order had come in. Each day I got a package notice in our mailbox, and each day I was disappointed when they post office worker started walking towards me with a massive box that clearly wasn't from Old Navy. Want to know what was in those 5 boxes? 2 XBoxes and tons of video games. I didn't even know Corey had more than one XBox! Now I know he has 3 of them and one doesn't even work. I still haven't received my clothes, but my husband now has his time-waster here....lucky him!
Today I finally got to meet a fellow Marine wife, Bree! I've known her through Facebook for a couple of months now, and she is in Okinawa visiting her husband this month! I already had plans to visit Maria, so I picked Bree up and told her that she just had to meet a friend of mine who would have her cracking up. We ended up spending like 5 hours at Maria's, just talking, laughing, and plotting. Today was Military Spouse Appreciation Day, so I took the ladies some brownies and flowers! Then we all decided that our husbands should appreciate us too...with purses! I'm telling you...get a few girls together and mention and Dooney and Bourke patent leather purse, and we just start planning ways to get one!
Corey has mess night tonight, so he won't be home until tomorrow sometime. A night away from me and a chance to have a few drinks with the guys will probably be a nice break for him. So on the way home from Maria's house tonight, I decided to stop off at a Family Mart and get something to eat for dinner. It had been raining all day and quite frankly, I just didn't feel like going home and making something just for myself. so I ran in, got my cold noodles (Yumm!) and went back to the car. Any guesses as to what happened next? Well if you guessed that my car wouldn't start, you're right! It wouldn't give me that little clicking sound like the battery was trying! I called Corey and then quickly remembered where he was and that he wouldn't be answering his phone tonight. I ended up calling my friend Erin (see Erin, I promised you would be mentioned in my blog!) and explained my situation to her. Her husband, drove out to where I was and stood out in the pouring rain figuring out what was wrong with my car. Apparently the bolts on my battery weren't tight, so I have to get Corey out there to fix that. James got my car working tonight though, and was even kind enough to follow me to our housing gate to make sure I didn't break down anywhere! He and Erin are awesome! We've already decided that Erin and I are celebrating our birthdays together in October and the boys are trying to get a golf day in here soon.
So now I'm home and bumming around with Inu. He's not a fan of the rain...when it gets pretty bad outside, he starts barking at the sounds. I'm sure he's confused wondering where his daddy is, because he keeps walking around checking all the rooms. Poor puppy!
Thats it for now, and I promise I really will try to update more often!
