Finished Ceramics!

For those of you who remember this post, my friend and I started taking a ceramics class a couple of months ago.  We poured the molds, we trimmed the excess, smoothed everything out, and started painting!  It took forever because we didn't go back every week like we kept saying we would.  Eventually I just ended up going back without my friend because she told me she didn't think she was going to finish hers.  I wanted to see the finished product though, so I went back for a couple of weeks and finished paining and glazing mine.

The other day I finally got to pick them up!  They are all shiny and finished!  This is the first time I've done this, so of course they aren't perfect, but I think they are alright.  Next time I will have to be a little more careful with the painting, because I ended up with some spots on the mug and my bears look like they are crying.

Hubby actually took this to work!
It's now his office mug to show off :)

Forest Adventure Park

A few weeks back the hubby took leave, so we made reservations at Forest Adventure Park.  It's a zip line obstacle course that we had heard about and both of us had really wanted to go.  I have a fear of heights, but I promised myself I wouldn't let that keep me from trying this...there would be no regrets in Okinawa!

We arrived at the base camp, paid the fees, and signed the waiver.  The lady told us where to drive so that the van would pick us up, and we headed out.  The van picked us up and drove us up a narrow, windy, road, dropped us off, and wished us well.  Then we started the 200m walk to the cabin where we were fitted with our harnesses.  They pulled and tightened the harnesses until we all set and walking funny, and one of the guys took us down to the practice area for our safety briefing and lessons on how to ride the zip lines.  During our safety briefing it started to rain, and just wouldn't let up.  We were worried that they would close down the park, but the guy just asked us if we were okay with it.  When we told him yes, he finished showing us how to go through the obstacles.  We both had to show the instructor that we could hook everything by ourselves, and correctly, and they he said we were all set to go.

I told the hubby that I had to go first, because if he went first I would be left having to talk myself into stepping off the platform.  So he let me go first and as soon as I clipped myself in, he got all drill instructor on me and told me "By the time I get up to that platform, you'd better already be off of it!"  Sure enough, I stepped off and zipped over all the trees all the way to the other side!  It was such a blast!  Once I got the first one over with, I had no problem getting through the other zip lines.  We had to climb a lot of ladders, pass over rope bridges, and climbed hundreds of stairs, but it was worth feeling like you were flying over the forest.  Just as we got really comfortable with everything, we got to the Tarzan Swing.  This is where it took me a couple of minutes to step off the platform.  You clip yourself in, hold the rope, and step off.  First you drop, and then you swing right towards a rope net that you're supposed to grab and climb.  The swinging part isn't bad at all...its the initial drop!  I let out a scream, and even though he won't admit it, so did the hubby.  The whole course took us about an hour and a half to get through, but we were exhausted when we were done!

Getting ready to fly over the trees!

It was such a great view over all those trees

Halfway though...sweaty and muddy

I swear I'm still alive

I know I haven't posted in forever...but I am promising a post this week! The hubby took leave for a week, then we had a typhoon, and then this long weekend, so I've been spending time with him instead of blogging.  I'll catch everyone up though!
